I am really bad about staying on task and have a very active “squirrel” brain. I used to chase down whatever I found interesting right away, but now I am trying to put a pin in it and save it for later when I can decide if it is really worth my interest. Generally, it is, especially if it is one of those topics that just won’t let me go, other times it is interesting for something I haven’t even started.
By the way, case in point… while writing this post I heard about Beyonce’s version of Dolly Parton’s Jolene and had to give it a listen. OMG so good! Anyway… back to the original squirrel.
Had this post come across my feed and thought it would be fun to include a mention in my current WIP which has backstory in some pretty significant places in Europe. The share is more of a reminder to myself to look into this later, but I thought someone else may find this of interest as well. I love this kind of thing and had never heard of these figures until now. Thinking about the people who designed them, what they were used for, and how they survived the test of time, is something that gets my Muse brain going.
If you haven’t checked out Icy’s work, I would highly recommend it, she researches some pretty cool folklore and her podcast is amazing. Her website can be found by clicking through this article. And stay tuned as I look for more bits of information and pass them along as my Squirrel Shares! I can pretty much guarantee there will be plenty more where this came from!
Happy reading and writing! XO
And if you want to check out Jolene:
