This announcement comes at the end of a decade that has simultaneously kicked my fanny and fulfilled me in ways I am still wrapping my head around. While I know there is more change to come (and yes probably some give and take of some fanny-kicking) I am going to take this moment to breathe this accomplishment in and allow it fill my emotional coffers. I am also cracking out the bubbly since, let’s face it, this is a huge deal!
I will go a little more into the decade and subsequent ass-kicking in my 2020 Writer Goal post, but suffice it to say I have seen a whole lot of change in my life in the last 10 years. It’s hard to miss the signs when I follow-up with my Oncologist, look into the mirror, or struggle to get out of bed in the morning. When all is said and done, that is why this award is important to me. It is validation that no matter what I set my mind to, no matter what age I am, no matter where I am in my journey – I can reach for the stars and every once-in-a-while… pull them down to sparkle in my hands.
I firmly believe that this book was the turning point of my writing career. Book 3 was where all my stars aligned and I had my “aha” moment. It was a book that challenged me in every sense of the word, made me pull my hair out, and gave me the biggest sense of nailing it that I have had to date. For you creatives out there you probably know what I am talking about. If you don’t, just know your day will come and just keep swimming!
I am extremely proud of this book, and it would not be the story it is today without the love, support and critiques I received along the way. I would like to thank Kevin Woodland at Color Wheel LLC for bringing my vision for the cover to life, and Jennifer Melzer for taking such good care of all of my words thusfar. I would also like to thank my writer friends who I have met along the way, the members of Wednesday Writing, Greater Detroit Romance Writers of America and my critique partners with the Muse Crew. This award would not have happened had you not challenged me to dig deeper and write a better story.
I have read some fantastic Indie Books along the way, and challenge those who haven’t taken a chance on one to give them a try. The links below will take you to the winner pages of the contests that this book has either placed in or won, which I think is an amazing place to start. Supporting your Indie Author is just the same as supporting your local businesses, and is appreciated much more than you will ever know! And be sure to consider leaving a review or rating on your platform of choice, they make all the difference in the world!
Thank you all for following my Journey, and if you haven’t signed up for my newsletter yet, you can link to it here. There is so much more planned for the future, you have joined me at a wonderful time! XO
