The Indie Book Directory has got to be my new favorite resource for reading and discovering books!
I’m excited to announce this tool for both readers and authors! I came across this service in late 2025 just after Indie Book Directory had announced a revamp of their website. What I found there was an amazing resource for Authors looking for not only readers but also services for their Indie business!
Books can be put in directly by the Author and the template walks you through the information needed for each one. There is also a section if you are a service provider or an Indie bookstore. For the book end of things, there are some things you should have prepared ahead to make the process a little smoother, and the end result is what you see here for some of my books.
Once uploaded (which didn’t take much time at all), when you click on each image you get more details about that book including tropes, genres, and spice levels. The “submit a book” process was easy to use, however, it doesn’t allow you to edit once you submit, so double-check everything before you send your book on to the platform. Mistakes can be updated by sending them an email, and I found them super responsive when I made a booboo on my Heaven On Earth title. They were really nice and had the correction made within a day.
Here are some of the things you will need lined up for each title. Please be aware that they do not allow AI generated works and they do ask if you are part of a marginalized community.
Your website, direct market store (if any), Amazon, Other store link, and your Linktree.
Book Title/Series. You will also need to upload an image of your book cover.
Book Length: Novella, Novel, etc.
Book Type: Novel, Anthology, etc.
Genre: They give you options to select, and you are able to select more than one.
Tropes: This area is open for you to list and some of the information shows up under the search, so put the most important ones first. Here is what I listed for Sea Of Dreams:
Contemporary Portal Fantasy, Parallel Universe, Dream Lover, Friends to Lovers, Amnesia/Mistaken Identity, Star-crossed Lovers, Vacation Romance, Earth Magick, Mystical Creatures, 3 Fates, Elemental Powers, Medium Heat, 3rd Person Close, First In Series
Blurb: You have a lot of space here as well.
Spice Level: You can select based on each book and they will place the emojis on your book page similar to this:
- 🌶️🌶️🌶️- 1-3 open door scenes
Content Warnings: This is a required field as far as I can tell, here is what I listed for Sea Of Dreams:
- References to death
Social Media: This is where your Linktree is listed. https://linktr.ee/DAHenneman
There are directories for Indie Book stores, Advanced Reader Copies, Service Providers, as well as other resources, sort of like a one stop shop for Indie Authors. As of this posting it is free to list your books, however, they do have paid options for being a featured author.
