Cover Reveal! – Twist Of Fate – Prequel

I feel as though I have been talking about this book release forever! Thank you so much for hanging in there with me! I promise I have a really good reason that it has taken me so long to get my stars aligned! Well, I at least think it is a good reason, but I suppose you will be the judge of that! Here is the cover in its entirety, and as the name suggests, there was a bit of a “twist” in getting it to this point!

As you may have read in past posts, I work very closely with my book designer and often find the images that are used for my marketing and cover design. This time was no different, except the original image I found didn’t quite work the way I wanted. So, in the middle of finalizing the cover, we switched gears and found another image to run with. Since so much time had been invested in the other image, and it is super cool, it is going to be showing up in some of my marketing. Be on the lookout for it on my FB, Twitter and Instagram!

My insistence that I write yet another story in Wisteria and set it about 10 years after Twist Of Fate also caused a bit of a delay.  I completed what I set out to do, and the novelette is called The Jinni’s Wish and will be given to anyone who subscribes to my newsletter who would like it. Because it is advertised in the back of Twist of Fate, I had a chicken/egg thing going on with hyperlinks, book delivery systems, and automation sequences. Suffice it to say, it has been a little nutty! The stress finally got to me the other day, and I was in tears over a potted plant dumping over in the backseat of my car. We will not speak of it again… lol. Anyway, I have both books done and ready to roll, so once I get a few more things lined up, I will be announcing the launch date! The exciting thing for my readers is that they get bonus content! Woot! The exciting thing for me will be that I know I can do something like this, but will be smart enough in the future not to.

Twist Of Fate takes place in 1944, long before Sea of Dreams and during a very volatile time in our country’s history. I am always amazed when I start these projects, just where my characters end up taking me. As I was letting my fingers do the walking for my third book, Playing With Fire, I went down a research rabbit hole on volcanoes. At the time, I was looking at Italy for an elemental portal location, and Sera’s affinity to fire seemed to fit very nicely with the whole idea of explosions and hot lava. But as I poked around, what I ended up finding were articles on Mt. Vesuvius and something I had never known. Mt. Vesuvius had erupted during WWII! Holy smokes! Literally!

I couldn’t completely work WWII into Sera’s story, although there are definitely ties to that era through her family. The only part of a volcano that I did end up including was the fountain of lava that shot out of the ground, which Brooke and Amie successfully changed into an obsidian tree in Sevilla’s backyard. (For anyone who doesn’t know, the lovely black stone is quickly cooled lava. And if you did know, why didn’t you tell me?!?) Anyway, I had all this fantastic research and nowhere to go with it, until Fate decided she needed her story told. Oh boy, did she have a story to tell! She didn’t always talk in riddles you know!

So, for my amazing readers, I am going to admit that Twist Of Fate will not be advertised as a “romance.” If I’m honest it is a bit on the dark side so, as such, I will be labeling it Fantasy/Dark Fantasy. While it has a central relationship and a bit of sexy stuff (and this is a bit of a spoiler alert), it doesn’t have what I would call a HEA or happily-ever-after. At least for now. But honestly, who’s to say what the future holds? Don’t you worry about our girl Fate, she is going to be just fine. I promise! As for The Jinni’s Wish, it gives great insight into Sevilla’s life and lets us see how the mysterious Kadar fits into the entire storyline. I most excited about his potential and had a great time getting to know them both better. I can’t wait to share these stories with you!

I will be announcing the launch date for both works soon, so be sure and stay tuned. For anyone that isn’t following me on social, you can link to my follow page here. I look forward to teasing you with where I am going with the final book of the series! I have already started on it and hope to have everything wrapped up by the end of this year. And then… we celebrate! A lot!

In the meantime, Happy reading! XO
