Books on my Nightstand – #17

It’s been a long time since my last bookstand post (which you can read here) so I decided it might be best to start over. Plus, who knows what I might buy while attending the event I will be at later today! As an update to Post #16, I finished Promposal, and wrote a post about celebrating the author’s debut with her which you can check out here. I also finished Belladonna by Adalyn Grace which I really liked. It had a dark and gothic witchy vibe, which was fun to read and loved how it ended. Medusa was a good read and the art was stunning. More YA than I like to read, but the way it looks on my bookshelf almost makes up for it. I also managed to fit in Fairy Tale by Stephen King which was a solid story, but not one of my favorite books by him. I felt it could have been a little shorter and still read pretty much the same.

I have a lot of non-fiction on my TBR right now, mostly to help me figure out what to lean into as far as my strengths. Have been reading a lot of The Dear Writer series by Becca Syme, as well as some books that came recommended by her Write Better Faster Course. I am also diving back into Zoe York’s Romance Your… series.

“The Oddessy” by Homer/Translated by Emily Wilson is still on my list, but I am setting aside my mythology reads for things a bit more Witchy. Most of the books I have on my TBR are for research and are hard to choke down. I am currently reading a number of them simultaneously since I am a complete mood reader and mostly just need to flip through them until I find the answers I need:

  • Witchcraft: A History in Thirteen Trials by Marion Gibson
  • Witchcraft Medicine: Healing Arts, Shamanic Practices, and Forbidden Plants by Claudia Müller-Ebeling, Christian Rätsch, and Wolf-Dieter Storl
  • Modern Witchcraft with the Greek Gods by Jason Mankey and Astrea Taylor
  • The Power of Myth by Joseph Campbell with Bill Moyers
  • The Essential Oils Handbook by Jennie Harding
  • The Witch’s Book of Shadows by Jason Mankey

On the fiction end of things I just finished The Women by Kristin Hannah on audio… which if you haven’t read I highly recommend! Heart-wrenching and eye-opening in the best of ways. I also have a ton of books I added to my digital TBR which I don’t even want to think about tackling, but here are a few worth mentioning:

  • How To Fake It With A Fae by Amy Boyles
  • Soul Of The Witch by Deanna Chase
  • The Trouble With Witches by Kristen Painter
  • Forbidden by Beverly Jenkins
  • Before He Kills by Blake Pierce

What books do you have on your TBR pile right now? I would love to know! Especially if you have just read something that knocked your socks off! I am especially looking for suggestions on anything Witchy, Witchcraft, and of course, Mythology! Bonus points if it is a story about Aphrodite! Drop me a line anytime at da@dahenneman.com or comment on any of my social media links which you can find here.

In the meantime, happy reading and all my love and wishes that you stay happy and healthy! XO
