Soundtrack of my life – Entry #2 – Give – LeAnn Rimes

So I’m not much of a Country gal, my musical tastes are generally more on the Pop side of the music scale, but I couldn’t help but fall in love with the message in LeAnn Rimes‘ song Give. For anyone who hasn’t heard it, I offer a link for your listening pleasure. For those of you who have, you already understand what a powerful message it holds.

I’ve met a great number of writers over the last few months through various social networks. In my experience, they embody the message of this song. They may be struggling to finish their novel, poem or short story, while holding down a full-time job, doing housework or putting the kids to bed. Yet somehow, someway, they still find time to share what they have learned along the way. The authors that I have had the privilege to meet, have welcomed me with open arms and have given me direction, focus and, yes, constructive criticism.

Shortly into my writing journey, I came across this saying, which some have tied to Pablo Picasso and others David Viscott. Whoever said it first, or since, has the right idea in my humble opinion.

“The purpose of life is to discover your gift. The work of life is to develop it. The meaning of life is to give it away.”

I want to thank each and every writer, artist and musician out there, who shares their gift and who strives to pays it forward. Thank you for giving, it is appreciated more than you could ever know.
